The clouds and sun were in competition this morning. |
Wednesday morning was a little on the rainy side. I persuaded the dog to walk down to the east end of the paved road where we saw a spectacular rain washed sun rise. The rays of sunlight were streaming through the clouds and it was a very pretty site. The rain was just sprinkling and sputtering so it was a nice morning to get out and walk with an umbrella. I checked on the passion fruit and found that the animals have pretty much cleaned me out. Better luck next year. As the sun streamed off to the west it ran into a shower of rain that was filling the western sky.

Always a good way to start the day. |
A very nice rainbow was floating above the western horizon moving slowly to the north along with the rays of the sun coming through the clouds. The colors were fairly strong so they should come through on my photo. When we arrived back at our house I noticed a yearly event was occurring.

Red Spider Lilies looking good. |
The red Spider lilies are coming up and producing their very fancy bloom structure. They are always a lot of fun to look at because they are just so over complicated. I have never been able to understand why it seems that this flower decided to turn itself inside out in an unusual way. The bulbs for these lilies lie dormant all summer while the lawn grows above them and then when the temperature drops slightly they pop up seemingly from nowhere. Spider lilies are absolutely maintenance free and very dependable year after year. I wish I could say that about some of my other garden items. Thanks for reading my blog today. Bye.
